Kazakhstan’s gambling was developed similar to the Russian scenario. From 1993 to 2000s casinos, poker clubs and slot machine halls were opened across the country, bringing its owners huge profits.

In 2007, the government decided to transfer all gambling establishments to separate zones: the coast of the Kapchagay reservoir in the Almaty region and in the Burabay district of the Akmola region. All land casinos, slot machine halls and poker rooms located outside the two gambling zones were closed. lottery and betting business retained the legal status on the territory of the whole country.
