On January 6, Chelmsford City Council gave the green light for the opening of a casino at the Chelmsford City racecourse. The integrated racecourse resort will be the first of its kind in the UK. Launch of the casino construction has been scheduled for for the first quarter of 2017.
The casino will occupy one floor of around 3,000 square metres in the building, which has not yet been constructed and will also feature a bar. The concerts will occupy around two thirds of the land inside the race track. The ambitious proposals will be implemented along with the racecourse’s new showground centre, with terracing for 7,000 spectators and a fitness area.
‘We are pleased to offer a fully integrated racetrack resort. In the nearest future, Racetrack Grandstand will become the leading entertainment destination in the region, meeting the preferences of each client,’ Racecourse chairman Joe Scanlon said.
