Casino owners in the U.S. expect that Donald Trump will legalize sports betting. In his interview with Fox Sports 1 Donald Trump made it clear that he supports the legalization of sports gambling.
“I’m OK with it, because it’s happening anyway. Whether you have it or don’t have it, you have it. It’s all over the place,” he said.
Currently, the industry lobbyists are looking for sponsors who would be able to finance the lifting of the ban on the betting, which was imposed in 1992, according to Sara Rayme, a senior vice president for the American Gaming Association (AGA).
“President Trump is a former casino owner, he understands the business,” she said.
Today, betting on sports is legal in four of the 50 states — Nevada, Delaware, Oregon and Montana. According to AGA, the annual profit of the illegal bookmakers market is about $ 149 billion.
