According to survey held in the UK, in Northern Ireland there are almost twice as many problem gamblers than in Wales and Scotland, and four times as many than in England.
Within the research conducted by the Northern Ireland Department for Communities in cooperation with the Northern Ireland Statistics Research Agency, 1004 people were interviewed.
According to the survey, men were nearly 4 times more often than women subjected to risk of developing gambling addiction. In percentage terms it looks like 11,6% of compulsive gamblers among men and 3% among women. 46,8% respondents played National lottery recognized as the most widespread gambling.
In general, the number of the people participating in gambling for the last 12 months has been reduced by 12,6% in comparison with same data for 2010-2016. At the same time the number of fans of online gambling in 2016 has increased more than twice — from 6.7% in 2010 to 15.8%.
The most efficient advertizing of gambling appeared to be TV advertising (80% of those responding to the advertisement), Internet advertising (47,3%) and sponsor’s advertisements (36,7%).
