PartyPoker, the gambling operator, has withdrown its application for a license from the gambling regulator of the Czech Republic to provide its services in the local online market.
In February 2017, the company suspended work in the Czech Republic, due to new gambling laws coming into force, and applied for several licenses from the local CSSGLD regulator.
The company explained its refusal to operate in the local market due to the inconsistency of the new gambling legislation and its practical implementation to the principles of the European Union.
The renewed market for online gambling in the Czech Republic has been severely criticized because of the inability of local authorities to adequately punish unlicensed operators.
In addition, according to experts, the attractiveness of the online gambling market of the Czech Republic for international operators has decreased due to 35% profit tax introduced in accordance with the new legislation.
