The president of Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has signed the bill forbidding activity of online casino and bookmaker websites. From now online gaming operations are officially banned from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) accredited buildings.

The decision on introducing the ban on an online gambling was made by PEZA after the meeting with representatives of local business association BPO (Business Process Outsourcing). BPO members expressed concern relative to the fact that activity of illegal gambling operators can do much harm to the reputation of business association.

The issue of banning online gambling in the buildings accredited by PEZA appeared after fast growth of the number of illegal online institutions in Manila, and also in other parts of the country. At the same time most of iGaming-operators occupied the buildings accredited by PEZA.

According to Leechiu Property Consultants, a local real estate company, iGaming companies are the largest tenants of office space on Philippines.
