There may appear duty-free shops in the Primorye gambling zone. Konstantin Shestakov, director of the Department of Tourism of the Primorye Territory Administration, made such an offer at the third Pacific tourist forum.
Shestakov proposed to allow Duty Free shops to be opened “outside the existing mechanism on the territory of large investment projects”, by making an appropriate amendment to the act on the free port of Vladivostok.
“The opening of duty-free shops not only at border crossings, but throughout the Primorye territory, will increase the tourist potential of the regions of the free port of Vladivostok,” an official said.
Primorye gambling zone is located in the resort area on the bank of the Ussuri Gulf on the bank of the Formic bay. On November 11, 2015 there was the grand opening of Tigre de Cristal Casino, the first of the eight casinos planned in the gambling zone.
Due to the low population density in the region and its remoteness from major cities, Primorye focuses mainly on gamblers from China and Japan. Prosperity of “Russian Macao” is closely linked to the introduction of visa-free travel within the free port of Vladivostok. However, this provision of the law has not yet been fully implemented.
