Anton Alikhanov, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, noted the tendency to increase tax revenues from the Amber gambling zone at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.
“Operators pay taxes regularly. Last year there was only a slot machine hall, now they are expanding, accordingly, revenues will grow as well”, the official said.
Last year, tax revenues from the gambling zone brought the Kaliningrad region 12 million rubles.
Amber gambling zone in the Kaliningrad region can rightly be called the western stronghold of the Russian gambling. about 100 hectares of land was allocated for its construction near the village of Kulikovo on the Baltic Sea.
For a long time the development of the gambling zone was complicated by the lack of investors. The authorities wanted investors not only to construct casinos and hotels, but also to lay roads. Real investors appeared only after the government had allocated money for the infrastructure development.
In April 2016 Amber gambling zone opened Magic Crystal, a slot machine hall. A hotel-casino and SPA-center are planned to be opened in the near future.
